The Act of 1811

In 1811 St Mary’s secured an Act of Parliament 39 to repeal part of the 1772 Act. It was to do with the maximum sum that could be raised for the incumbent from the renting of pews. In the 1772 Act the sum was a minimum of £165 per annum and a maximum of £200 per annum. In the new Act it became a minimum of £350 per annum and a maximum of £550 per annum, and it applied only to St Mary’s chapel.
